Heart & Sole

Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run's middle school program that meets the unique needs of girls in 6th-8th grade.

The program considers the whole girl...body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection. Utilizing an engaging social emotional curriculum alongside fun, physical activities, trained coaches will lead small groups of girls through inclusive discussions, games and workouts to promote empowerment and healthy lifestyle choices, all while training them to run/walk a 5K (3.1 miles).

Fin-Aid - Shared

Financial Aid

Our goal is for ALL girls to be able to participate in Girls on the Run, regardless of her family's financial status. In addition to discounting the program for ALL girls (our base fee of $260 is below our actual $375-per-girl cost to deliver the program), we offer need-based financial assistance.

We are also able to offer the program at a significantly reduced rate for all girls at select high-need schools (where 70% or more of the student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch). It is our goal to never turn a girl away based on financial need.

Apply for financial assistance during the program registration process.

Ma fille n’est pas une grande coureuse. Est-ce que ce programme lui conviendra? OU Ma fille est déjà une coureuse expérimentée. Est-ce que ce programme lui conviendra?

My girl isn't a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?

Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every participant can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running at each practice. And know that when we say run, we mean run, walk, skip, roll or push, just as long as you are moving foward!

What does the program fee include?

Though our cost per participant is $375, through generous donors we're able to offer the 10-week, 20-lesson program for a base fee of $260. This program registration fee includes all lesson materials, including GOTR curriculum, activity sheets, lap counters and more, a GOTR t-shirt, a bib entry into the season-ending 5K, a finisher's medal, and a GOTR water bottle.

We can't afford the program registration fee, but our child would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?

Our goal is for ALL girls to be able to participate in Girls on the Run, regardless of her family's financial status. In addition to discounting the program for ALL girls (our base fee of $260 is below our actual $375-per-girl cost to deliver the program), we offer need-based financial assistance.

When does the 10-week season begin?

Practices will begin the week of February 27th. The culminating event will be the 5K on Saturday, May 13th. More information will be shared by the GOTR staff and by your girl's coaches once the season begins.

Do girls need to attend both days each week in order to register?

Yes! Since most of our teams fill up quickly, if your girl will be unable to attend all the sessions, please save room for a girl who can, and consider joining us in a future season when she can enjoy the entire program.
