Welcome to Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley

Girls on the Run is a life-changing, non-profit program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

The 10-week Girls on the Run curriculum combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions. All of this is accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community.

What's Happening

Donate to our 2014 Run for a Reason fundraiser!

We are excited to kick off our 2014 Run for a Reason fundraiser! We do this fundraiser to support our scholarship fund and to keep our program fees as low as possible for all participants (lower than the actual cost to run the program). This season we have close to 300 girls on scholarship. We've never had to turn a girl away from our program because she could not afford it, due in large part to the funds raised through our Run for a Reason fundraiser.

If you are making an online donation that should be credited to a specific GOTR Girl, you MUST enter her full name and her program/school site in the "This gift is in honor of" field in the online donation form. Please forward a copy of your donation receipt to your GOTR Girl by no later than Monday, April 21, for her to include in her fundraising envelope as evidence of the donation amount.

Join us on Saturday, May 17, at Vasona Park in Los Gatos for our 11th Annual Girls on the Run 5K, a community fun run/walk that is also the culminating event for our Girls on the Run and Girls on Track program participants!

The 5K is open to EVERYONE in the community: men, women, girls and boys, runners and walkers. All proceeds benefit Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley. The event is a non-competitive, un-timed event. This year we expect more than 4,000 runners and walkers with more than 2,500 spectators cheering them along our beautiful course in and around Vasona Park!

IMPORTANT: 2014 season Girls on the Run participants and coaches DO NOT need to sign up for the 5K as they are automatically signed up by registering for the the program and volunteering to coach.
